Coaching with WalkThrus

From theory to practice

The day will introduce delegates to the latest Coaching Model that forms the basis of the forthcoming Walkthrus book.  Our definition covers instructional coaching for individuals, pairs, small groups and teams. Tom will outline how the model works, from designing a robust coaching system that builds around excellent training on core techniques,  to in-depth coaching dialogue that supports teachers to form new habits in their practice.

We will explore the Why and How of implementing a great coaching programme, ensuring delegates develop their understanding of the rationale for engaging in this work with some concrete examples of how it is done in practice.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

⭕ Diagnose and Design: What techniques are needed to solve observed learning problems?

⭕ Train and Model: How do we run excellent training and feed this into the coaching programme?

⭕ Adapt and Apply: How do we support teachers to own techniques and form their own mental models?

⭕ Feedback and Support: How do we engage teachers in feedback conversations informed by observation?

⭕ Build and Embed: How do we build in continuous development for teachers across the experience profile of the school?

The day will be a superb support for anyone already using WalkThrus, but would appeal to any school leaders who are interest in our approach.
