Progressive Collective

Online applied learning and support with Dr Simon Breakspear

The Progress Collective has been designed to help you and your team to build mastery in our Agile School Leadership tools and to create cut-through in your improvement work. We want you to have more confidence, more impact and less stress in your role. Together we can build simple routines that can add up to incremental and substantial improvements.

This program is focused on providing the support you need to embed a sustainable cadence for your improvement work. Through the Progress Collective, we will deepen your skills around Clear Thinking, Responsive Action and Lean Monitoring, and help you to level up your leadership of self, team and organisation. We will enable you to rise above the urgent and focus on the next most important steps.

The processes and tools we offer are simple and effective, but not easy to do consistently. We’ve learned that by providing the right content and community we can help leaders to embed new routines and build new habits. Cumulatively building up important, incremental shifts in leadership practice is how breakthroughs happen.

Our Progress Collective is an ongoing improvement community designed to support you and your team over a year or more to embed our school improvement practices and tools into your unique context. We are constantly adding new tools, ideas and research to provide fresh inspiration and more efficient ways of working. Yet the core goal is to focus on the most essential things and embed them as ongoing ways moving forward.

How we will work together

Immersion Sessions (Quarterly, Half-day)

Our program is anchored around quarterly half-day live workshop sessions, delivered by Dr Simon Breakspear. This is the backbone of how we will work together. Practical, focussed and rejuvenating, these sessions will give you an anchor point to step out of the urgent and reconnect with the most important aspects of your role.

Make progress by applying simple and effective approaches that you know to be effective but often don’t have time to do in your busy role.

Be inspired by learning about new research and best practice examples. Engage in collaborative problem solving, clarify your thinking and plan the next cycle of your improvement work.

Momentum Sessions (Quarterly, 45-60 min)

Cut through the confusion and get focused on your most important work. These energising sessions will enable you to rise above the urgent and move into a more strategic mindset. You will leave re-energised and clear about the most important high-leverage actions to work on next.

Online Resource Portal

Access videos, tools and protocols on demand when you need them for your team. Explore our comprehensive collection of resources and return too all content that has been delivered throughout the year.

Online Community Platform

Connect with an inspiring community of leaders, share your recent thinking and seek peer feedback on your draft tools and improvement ideas.

Immersion Sessions

Our program is anchored around quarterly, half-day live digital workshop sessions, delivered by Dr Simon Breakspear and invited experts. These sessions are focused on implementation and mastery.

Be exposed to new research, best practice examples and simple tools. Be inspired and re-energised, clarify your thinking and plan for your next cycle of improvement work. In each immersion we will:

  • Create space to think through better ways of engaging in improvement work
  • Celebrate meaningful progress and the breakthroughs we’ve achieved
  • Connect with our community and be inspired by the company that you keep
  • Build your knowledge of evidence-informed school improvement work
  • Review what worked and what didn’t work over the last improvement cycle and surface new lessons and insights
  • Produce refined strategies and plans to help us leave with momentum for the next improvement cycle

The leadership immersions are the cornerstone of our program and allow us to stay in motion and build and sustain new habits and routines. Each digital session is delivered via zoom over approximately 3 hours. Join your chosen team members in your own space and be led through practical tools, examples and case studies.

If you can’t join the live session or have a clash don’t worry! We’ll record each session, and store it for you to catch up and it’s available to watch or re-watch within 24 hours after it ends.

Working alongside you every step of the way

Developing a sustainable rhythm for school improvement work takes time. We have momentum sessions, our online resource hub and an online community platform to support you to make incremental progress, stay focused and feel connected.

The Collective has acted as a rich anchor for professional dialogue. It provided our team with a well sequenced series of check-ins, as opportunities to pause, reflect and gain momentum. We are deeply grateful to Simon and his team for their guidance and quality of tools they so generously shared.
